# About Rollup policy

Hi,

I have issue about my lifecycle Policies, all time I try to set to put one on my logstash index, I got error about it.

Message =\> Index lifecycle error  
illegal\_argument\_exception: index name [logstash] does not match pattern '^.\*-\d+$'

In order to be used with the Rollover API (which is what ILM is using under the hood) the index must end with a number, usually of the form `<my_index_name>-000001`.

If you're using Logstash version 7.0.0 or later, it might be easier to use [Logstash's built-in ILM support](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/plugins-outputs-elasticsearch.html#plugins-outputs-elasticsearch-ilm), which can set up your index for use with ILM automatically.
