# Add data nodes to an existing cluster

I have an ES (5.6) Cluster with 3 data nodes.  
"number\_of\_shards": "5"  
"number\_of\_replicas": "1"

I would like to add 2 more data nodes to this cluster.  
Is there any documentation for adding additional data nodes ?  
After adding the Do I need to change the "shards" ?  
Is there any equation to calculate shards ?
