# Add node need permission on scalling elasticsearch chapter

Course: Elastic Certified Engineer self paced learning plan  
Version: Scaling Elasticsearch chapter  
Question: When adding a node using the `kubectl` command, permissions are required, I don't see any credentials provided to run that command.
