Hey,
We are reaching out to seek guidance and support for integrating secure remote clusters (e.g., OpenSearch Security and X-Pack enabled Elasticsearch) within Kibana Our goal is to seamlessly connect and visualize data from remote clusters while ensuring security compliance and smooth inter-cluster communication.

Is there any way to do it?

Welcome!

You can't communicate between Elasticsearch and OpenSearch as they are not the same product. If that was your question.

If I'm not answering your question, could you elaborate a bit more?

Thank you for your response. I know that they are not the same product, but since OpenSearch was forked from Elasticsearch, their API requests are quite similar. Therefore, we would expect to be able to add it. If that's not possible, it's okay.

Regarding our other question: how can we add an X-Pack enabled Elasticsearch cluster to Kibana remote clusters? Because there is a layer which is username and password. @dadoonet

Which version? If not 7.17 or better 8.15, then upgrade. All what you need is built in.

That's not possible, Opensearch and Elasticsearch are not compatible, they may have similar APIs, but some things are completely different, for example the entire authentication and authorization layer is different.

Many other things are completely different as well.

Can you provide more context on what you want to do? The authentication is done in Elasticsearch, so to configure Kibana to access an Elasticsearch cluster with security enabled, you need to configure the Kibana credentials in `kibana.yml`.

This [documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/security-minimal-setup.html#add-built-in-users) may help a little.
