Would a work around be by putting some placeholder like "N/A" instead of
having a missing field work?

Some example docs:where we have phone but not fax

{
"phone":"55555555"
}

Add N/A for fields that do not have values.
{
"phone":"55555555"
"fax":"N/A"
}

Apart requiring extra disk space. I don't seer this slowing down queries or
would it?
