# Alias with custom timestamp - time Field Name

I know how to update index with custom timeFieldName, I also know how to create an alias, but I do not know how to create an alias of an index with custom timeFieldName.

Target? To have one index, with multiple aliases pointing to different time field names as I have to create graphs based on different timestamps from the same index.

Are you referring to the [Alias datatype](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/master/alias.html)? With that, it should be strait forward to come up with a unified field name for your timestamp.
