All,

In our never ending quest to break ES we let loose Apache Benchmark on our
ES install:
$ ab -n20 [http://foobar.com:9200/pictures/picture/some\_random\_id](http://foobar.com:9200/pictures/picture/some_random_id)

Nearly always we get:
apr\_socket\_recv: Connection reset by peer (54)

Even -n2 throws this error. I know ES is not a key value store but 20
sequential requests shouldn't be a problem right?

With kind regards,

---

Are you using ab on OS X Lion? Its completely broken there…, you need to compile one yourself (just good search the error, you will see).

Completely broken doesn't even begin to describe how broken it is. You were
right. Running ab on a linux box showed how unbelievable fast ES is (twice
as fast as Riak!).
Many thanks!

Run it with -k, so it will use keep alive (which is recommended with any client).
