# APM JAVA AGENT Rancher

Dear All,

We want to use the APM feature but we are a bit stuck with configuring it.

We are using Rancher with docker containers. I've managed to install the APM server using the available image but how do i need to install the APM AGENT. We have the .JAR, do we need to add this jar in a different user stack or..

Hi and thanks for trying it out.  
You need to copy the jar into your docker image and add the `javaagent` flag to the command line with the proper path to it. See [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/agent/java/current/application-server-setup.html) for more details.  
I hope this makes sense.
