# Apm server error logs-apm.error not found

Hi,

I have done an upgrade to Elasticsearch 8 and after this, I am finding a strange message in the apm server (8.0.0) logs

"precondition 'apm integration installed' failed: error querying Elasticsearch for integration index templates: unexpected HTTP status: 404 Not Found ({"error":{"root\_cause":[{"type":"resource\_not\_found\_exception","reason":"index template matching **[logs-apm.error] not found"}]**,"type":"resource\_not\_found\_exception","reason":"index template matching [logs-apm.error] not found"},"status":404}): to remediate, please install the apm integration: [https://ela.st/apm-integration-quickstart","service.name":"apm-server","ecs.version":"1.6.0](https://ela.st/apm-integration-quickstart%22,%22service.name%22:%22apm-server%22,%22ecs.version%22:%221.6.0)"}

I am using docker APM config

Can you suggest.

Hi @swchandu, As you can read from the log message, you need to first install the APM Integration via Kibana, otherwise the necessary data streams, ingest pipelines and index templates won't be set up.

Thanks.  
I have already done this previously. However, when I tried this on a fresh instance & found working. I will remove the existing setup & try.

I have already done the APM integration as specified on [Quick start with Elastic Cloud | APM User Guide [8.11] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/guide/current/apm-quick-start.html)  
Step 1. we set fleet server  
Step2: ignored we don't want metrics/file ingestion  
Step3:
