# APM Server logs not being generated

Is apm-server [running under systemd](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/server/current/running-with-systemd.html)? If so, the logs are in the systemd jourrnal viewable with `journalctl -u apm-server`.

Is this related to your [other discuss post](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/apm-server-connecting-to-elasticsearch-even-though-my-output-is-only-enabled-for-kafka/195614/4) or a separate issue?
