# Archive Elasticsearch indices to Azure blob storage

I am using ElasticSearch and Kibana 7x version,

I've a requirement to archive the ElasticSearch indices which are older than 10 days, How to we configure it from kibana dashboard/how do we automate the process?

Hi Dubru,

I think what you need is to setup a [snapshot](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/7.9/snapshot-restore.html) policy that would automatically [make a snapshot of your old indices](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/master/getting-started-snapshot-lifecycle-management.html) to Azure with the help of [Azure Repository plugin](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/plugins/current/repository-azure.html). And then if you need to delete these indices you'd need to setup an [ILM policy to wait for snapshot](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch//reference/master/ilm-wait-for-snapshot.html) before removing them.

I'd encourage you to read through the links I've shared above and experiment to see if does what you need.
