# Authentication

hello All,  
due to using authentication in Kibana need Xpack and License, would you please tell me another free way to setup authentication for users in Kibana .

hi @Amin1,

I'm no familiar with any other way than to setup authentication without Xpack and the appropriate license. After the trial-license expires, you'd need at least Gold for that:[https://www.elastic.co/subscriptions](https://www.elastic.co/subscriptions).
