# Beats Kafka Output: support for SASL OAUTH and MSK IAM Authentication

Hi,

We are interested in sending logs with Filebeat to an MSK cluster using IAM authentication. Currently, the Kafka Output does not support SASL OAUTH, which is the underlying mechanism for IAM Authentication (see a Golang example: [GitHub Link](https://github.com/aws/aws-msk-iam-sasl-signer-go?tab=readme-ov-file#getting-started)).

We are willing to submit a PR to add support for this use case if that works for you.

I'd recommend opening an issue in the Beats repository here [GitHub - elastic/beats: 🐠 Beats - Lightweight shippers for Elasticsearch & Logstash](https://github.com/elastic/beats) and indicating that it's something you're interested in working on.

We do accept contributions from the community but it's best to make sure there is alignment on the approach before putting in work to help ensure it's a valuable use of your time.
