I read this new feature with interest.

Is there a guide to how a custom Beat must be modified to take advantage of this feature ?

Is it something that comes for free with libbeat ?

Thanks,

Correct! The monitoring capability is built into libbeat. You'll still want to review the documentation on how to enable monitoring in the .yml file for the beat, but once it's set up it should work, even for a custom beat.
