# Beats monitoring through X pack

Hi i want to monitor the file beat agents same like how i am monitoring the elastic,kibana and logstash through X pack . My ELK stack version is 6.2.1 which doesn't have beats\_user user and bests\_system role. Can any one let me know how can this be achieved in lower version without upgrading the cluster to 6.3.0 version

Hi @chandra0651,
You can follow the [monitoring instructions for 6.2](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/6.2/monitoring.html), there it is mentioned that you can also use `logstash_user` or create your own user with the `logstash_system` role.
