Can ElasticSearch call a webservice that returns a JSON document?

If so, what would the call look like? Thanks.. new to ElasticSearch and
hoping to make good use of it.

Can you elaborate a bit more your use case?
Why don't you call directly your webservice from client side?

Trying to determine the best method for getting data into Elasticsearch
from an existing SQL Server DB. There is an existing setup that allows
other applications to pass parameters to a webservice via the HTML and that
webservice calls stored procedures in SQL Server and returns the results in
the specified format. I was hoping to be able to use this same method to
get data with Elasticsearch because everything is currently set up this way.

If Elasticsearch is unable, I'll have to look into developing an app that
can assist.

FYI, I am unable to use JDBC with the database due to security restrictions.
