Hello Elastic community,

I'm exploring the possibility of setting up Watcher alerts on a Platinum-licensed Elasticsearch cluster that would query data from other Elasticsearch clusters operating under the Basic license.

**Scenario:**

- We have a central Elasticsearch cluster with a Platinum license.
- There are multiple remote clusters, each running under the Basic license.
- The goal is for the central cluster to execute Watcher alerts based on queries to these remote Basic-licensed clusters.

**Questions:**

1. Is it technically feasible for a Watcher on a Platinum-licensed cluster to query data from Basic-licensed clusters?
2. Are there any licensing restrictions or technical limitations that would prevent this setup?

Any insights or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @yago82
In general we do not give license advice on a public forum, So please reach out to your Elastic team.

Here is a recent response to essentially the same question.

Any other route (including listening to me) could either mean you're violating a license or you're spending more money than you have to. How I've seen these go in the past is that my commercial agreement includes a provision indicating that I am licensing a "project" for which I plan to leverage Elasticsear…
