# Can Filebeat access different logs

Hello,
Can file-beat access different logs.
By different i mean, i have an application which generate logs on a different server and i want to access it on the server where elk is installed.
but i have used the default template which i found in steps of (how to install file-beat).

You should install Filebeat on the server where the logs are generated and let it forward the logs to the Elasticsearch server that is on a different machine.
