# Can indices.fielddata.cache.size be set dynamically?

Hi,

the [docs on field data](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-fielddata.html) state:

> These are static settings which must be configured on every data node in  
> the cluster.

So, it is not possible to set them dynamically.
