# Can restore operation in elasticsearch get back the deleted indices?

HI
I have few questions regarding Snapshot/Restore:
1)Whether Snapshot/Restore operation in elasticsearch can be used to get back the deleted indices or it is only to get unexceptedly closed indices?
1. Whether the Restore operation produces any new data in our stored backups(like restored indices)?

1. Assuming the indices that were deleted are in the snapshots, yes
2. It will add the restored indices back into the snapshots, yes.
