# Can\`t build and install kibana external plugins

hi everyone.  
i have problem on Kibana 8.10.4  
when i execute kibana plugin build command, target directory is not created in given .zip, and also .zip file can not be installed on production mode.  
thanks.

If the steps from [the documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/8.10/plugin-tooling.html) are not working, it sounds like there could be a bug.

Make sure you followed all of the steps from the documentation, including the initial method to generate the files for the plugin with `node scripts/generate_plugin`, and that the plugin code is in the root of `kibana` (the Kibana directory must be named this) in a `plugins` directory.
