# Can the output of the APM Server support HTTP?

I have a requirement where the data from the APM Server needs to be sent directly to HTTP for subsequent processing. I couldn't find an HTTP output on the official website.
However, I found someone has developed beats-output-http.
When I opened the source code of the APM Server, I discovered that the APM Server also references the outputs of Beats. Can I use the APM Server to directly reference beats-output-http?
Are there any limitations to this? Please help me translate this paragraph.

Hello @ysj2018, the supported outputs for the APM Server are listed in this documentation page [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/observability/current/apm-configuring-output.html).
Elasticsearch output is http based, based on your needs it can be an option. Otherwise, if you need a greater output data flexibility you can check the Logstash documentation [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/observability/current/apm-logstash-output.html) and [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/plugins-outputs-http.html).

Thank you for your reply. If we do have this requirement, but find Logstash too heavy for our needs, and we want to custom develop a plugin that can output data to HTTP, are there any relevant guidance documents or rules that we need to adhere to?

Hello, custom user plugins are not supported by APM Server. This also means that there is no documentation or guidance available too.
