# Can users do a search and get all the details or is it only aggregated data that we can see from the cold tier

In the cold phase, are all fields searchable?

The fields that are searchable do not change between tiers as the index itself does not change.

They can do both. There is nothing functionally that separates a hot from a cold tier. What differs is generally performance, latency and cost.
