# Catching change in a record

Is there a way in elastic search to catch and act on a change of state in index record ?

Currently there is not. For this you will need something like the [Changes API](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/1242) which we are working towards (requires [sequence numbers](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/10708) but is still a ways off.
