# CCR and deleted indices

I am testing CCR and would like to know if it is possible to delete a follower index if the source index is deleted.

For example we create a new index in the remote cluster and our CCR auto follow pattern replicates it. The next day we create a new index and delete the previous one in the remote cluster. The new one is correctly replicated, but the old replicated index remains.

Is there a way to automate deletion of the replicated index?
