Hi,

I was looking at migrating over index management from using Curator to using ILM, however, one of the actions we currently perform with Curator is to temporarily close the index and change the codec to `best_compression` before reopening and moving to warm nodes.

From what I can see this isn't possible with ILM, the only options are to change the number of replicas, shards & segments.

Could anyone confirm if this is the case? And perhaps if there's any plans to enhance the feature set to include this.

Cheers

Hi Michael,

You are correct, this isn't currently possible with ILM.

There is an issue open here: [https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/41274](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/41274) that you can +1 where we have it on the roadmap for adding.
