# Change default index pattern for visualization

Hey All, I have dashboard which I want to change the index pattern which the graphs/visualizations are using how do I go about doing this ? Currently they are using a default index pattern in which they span huge unwanted data sets and want to change it to a more specific index pattern so that it makes the search set more manageable

You can solve this by creating a new index pattern with the id of the index pattern where the dashboards have been created

so the dashboard/visualizations are using the default index pattern and I don't want to delete it I want to create a new index pattern and make the dashboard visualizations use this new index patter.
