# Changing maximum post length

Often we see posts on these forums that include multiple, large code snippets inline with the post. This, unfortunately, makes such posts difficult to read.
A better practice would be to paste the code snippets into [gist.github.com](https://gist.github.com/) and then link to those gists from within the forum post. To encourage this practice, we are reducing the maximum number of characters allowed in a forum post. Previously, forum posts could be as long as 32,000 characters. Starting now, forum posts can be no longer than 5,000 characters.
