# Clarification on end of maintenance of elastic search 8.x

Hi team,
From the Elasticsearch link [Elastic Product End of Life Dates | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/support/eol), the Elasticsearch (8.x) end of maintenance is mentioned as **"The later of 2024-08-10 or 6 months after the release date of 9.0 (TBD)"**.
Is the end of maintenance for all the Elasticsearch 8.X (Say 8.2.3, 8.7.0, etc) versions the same?
Or do we have different end of maintenance for other 8.X minor versions?

Yes. Actually you should not "stay" on something like 8.2.3 for example but always upgrade your cluster. When 8.7.0 is released, there's no more 8.6 update... The next patches will go to 8.7.1.
