# Cloned Logstash instances overlapping in Kibana monitoring

Just installed 2 new logstash-nodes, cloned them in vmware. Hostnames, ip's and nodenames in logstash.yml are ok, but in Kibana monitoring, these new nodes are overlapping oddly in logstash monitoring.

There is somethimes the first node with the correct name, then it disappears and the second node is there for a while, but when I click it, it goes to the first node statistics, so I quess there is some kind of node id that is now same on both logstash installations...

Any idea where this might be or what else could be causing this?

When Logstash starts up for the first time it will generate a `uuid` file in its data directory. This identifies the instance and is used in monitoring. As you have cloned the full directory all Logstash instances have the same id. Remove the `uuid` file on the cloned instances and a new one should be generated when you restart.
