# Cloudwatch vs Cloudwatch Logs input plugins

Hi everyone,

what is the difference between cloudwatch Logstash input plugin vs cloudwatch\_logs input plugin written by Lukewaite ([Link](https://github.com/lukewaite/logstash-input-cloudwatch-logs))?

My assumption is that the official cloudwatch input plugin is to scan and pull metrics, but cloudwatch\_logs is used for scanning and pulling log streams.
