# Cluster\_block\_exception: blocked by: \[SERVICE\_UNAVAILABLE/2/no master\]

I am seeing the following error on a 2x cluster with three master eligible nodes.

`EXCEPTION: 503 {"error":{"root_cause":[{"type":"cluster_block_exception","reason":"blocked by: [SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE/2/no master];"}],"type":"cluster_block_exception","reason":"blocked by: [SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE/2/no master];"},"status":503}`

Can someone please help me understand this exception?
