I'm running a three node cluster, and over the weekend one of the machines hosting one of the ES nodes failed. I restarted it this morning, but the cluster state remains red hours after restart, with the node seemingly refusing to allocate any shards, with the monitoring paging showing the implicated node allocating only 1 shard against the over 800 in the other 2. I'm at wits end, any help would be appreciated. I'm running ES 6.6.1.

The problem node is the second one in the list.
Please let me know what other info could be needed.

This blog post goes into detail about investigating why your cluster health is red:

> **[RED Elasticsearch Cluster? Panic no longer](https://www.elastic.co/blog/red-elasticsearch-cluster-panic-no-longer)**
>
> Your cluster is RED - you have unassigned shards and your cluster is not fully operational. Introducing a new Elasticsearch API which will save the day.

If you need help understanding the responses from the cluster allocation explain API then please share them here and we'll do our best to help.
