# Configure Where ES Stores Shards/Indices

Hi Everyone,

I am using ES 2.3.1, along with logstash, kibana, and occasionally filebeat.

The machine I am using is a rather small ( less than 50gb total, and less than 10gb available) monitoring server/vm. So I added a 100gb drive to it, located in the root drive.

Is there a way for me to set ES to save shards/indices on this new drive? I do not care about preserving the indices I currently have.
