# Configuring default\_operator at the index level

I'd like all queries against my index to use AND as the default operator. Is it possible to configure that at the index level, or do I need to set default\_operator on every query I send? I see that [default\_field can be configured at the index level](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/query-dsl-query-string-query.html#_default_field), but I don't see a similar setting for default\_operator.

Right now there is no way to configure that on the index level, but I could see it as something that could be added, can you open a github issue with a feature request for this?
