# Configuring multi\_field fields

Hey guys. I spent this afternoon learning the ins and outs of the  
multi\_field field type. In this mapping snippet:

what effect do the "index\_analyzer" and "search\_analyzer" options have when  
placed in the root of the field-document?

They have no affect within a multi\_field mapping, only on the root document  
(in which case, it acts as the default index/search analyzer for text  
fields that don't have explicit index/search analyzers set).
