# Configuring roles.yml for Kibana Dashboard only?

Hi,

Is it possible to configure the roles permissions set in roles.yml so that I can show my Dashboard but not show the corresponding index in the Discovery view ?

I don't think it is but thought I'd ask - my reading is that I need the indices:data/read/[m]search permissions for the Dashboard query and that these effectively enable the Discovery view.

There's currently no way to do that level of restriction in KB, you can see more here though - [https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/3904](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/3904)

OK thanks.

A little off topic, but I could achieve the same effect by being able to pop out the Kibana dashbaord into an iframe on a separate portal - but the current share functionality shares the entire Kibana app, not just the dashboard.

Any point in exploring this option ?
