# Control Number of Decimal Places in Kibana Metric Visualization?

Is there a way to do this?? Some of our metrics are displaying numbers of unwieldy lengths and it would be really nice to trim that down.

If you head into the settings for your index pattern you can change the way the number formatter works. Checkout [this doc page](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/5.0/field-formatters-numeric.html) for more info about how to pick the right format.
