# Controls Visualization - field values not found

If I want to create a Controls visualization by retrieving one particular field inside a Production index pattern (time filter option active), Kibana says: "Filtering occurs on the X field, which doesn't exist on any documents on the Production index pattern. Choose a different field or index documents that contain values for this field."
Then no values are shown. I am sure that such field with values inside exists in Production index pattern. So why does it behave like that?
If I do the same in a quality index pattern, the control works as expected over the same field.
