# Correct way of configuring metricbeat

I am running 11 nodes of elasticsearch cluster which include the following

1. Three master nodes
2. Six data nodes
3. 2 coordinate nodes

Earlier i installed and setup metricbeat in all nodes but it leads to consumption of high storage nearly around 150 gb per day

now i installed and setup metricbeat in master nodes only and set `scope: cluster` but it is not working there is no `.monitoring-es-mb-*'` index  
so i want to know **what is the correct way of configuring metricbeat ?**

Yeah I solved by installing metricbeat only in master nodes and add `scope:cluster` in `elasticsearch-xpack.yam` file
