# Creating index pattern... hanging

Hi

I freshly installed ES/kibana 6.4.2 on centos6, curl http://my\_ip:9200 ok, launch kibana from chrome also ok,,, when trying to create index pattern, it just hangs there,,, even when I tried to use kibana\_sample\_data\_flights, it is the same thing,,

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Are there any error messages in Elasticsearch logs, kibana logs, or in the browser dev tools console?

Does Elasticsearch have write permissions to its data directory? Can you use the REST API to insert data into Elasticsearch?
