# Curator Error | Elasticsearch version 6.4.1 incompatible with this version of Curator (5.3.0.dev1)

When trying to purge the indices through curator, i'm getting the following error.

Elasticsearch version 6.4.1 incompatible with this version of Curator (5.3.0.dev1)

That is a very old version of Curator. [5.3.0 was released in October 2017)[[https://github.com/elastic/curator/releases/tag/v5.3.0](https://github.com/elastic/curator/releases/tag/v5.3.0)], and you appear to be using a pre-release version. The most current release (as of this post) is 5.6.0.
