# Curl: (3) Port number ended with '\\'

I am newbie to Elastic Search and I am trying to perform a -XPOST operation to insert new data but it gives me the above error ..

Here's my Ubuntu terminal commands  
curl -XPOST http:\localhost:9200/classes/class/1/ -d ' \> {"title":"algorithm","Professor":"john"} '
