# Custom component template

Hello,

Can see now after upgrading to 7.16.2 that we have a new component template as part of logs-system.application index template.

What this component template `logs-system.application@custom` should be used for?  
Should we add there our custom settings/mapping? Will that be preserved after the upgrade?
