# Date range selection with custom date field strange behaviour

I have a line visualization where the X-Axis is a Date Histogram with a custom date field with daily interval.

Everything looks good...

Now I select a date range on the graph itself:

As a result it filters by the `@timestamp` on the top right of kibana:

What I expected it to do is to add a filter on the custom `sessionStartTime` field instead.

Is it a known issue? Am I missing something?

@slavik57,

this seems to be a limitation of Kibana.

I looked but couldn't find an existing issue for it.  
I'd add a bug report here: [https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/new](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/new)
