# Decommission a hard drive from a node

I have 8 nodes in my cluster. Each node has 12 disks. All 12 disks in each node contain shards.

I would like to remove one of the disks from one of the nodes. What is the correct way to move the data off the disk and then to remove?

You can't move it off a drive, only off the entire node.
