# Delete data from elastic search

Hi,  
We are planning to use ELK to capture application logs, i have a question can i delete data in elastic search after 4 months, If possible can you please suggest how to delete data in Elastic search?

Depending on how you structure your data, let's say you have indexes created / segmented by date, it would be fairly easy to drop those indexes periodically.

This might be the most relevant to your use case:
