# Delete .monitoring index as it's unassigned elk 8.7

Hi All...  
Need one guidance I am using Elasticsearch 8.7 and my cluster status is yellow  
Upon checking I find that the . monitoring index is in unassigned status .  
Can it be deleted or dropped ? Is there any impact ? How can we delete it to make cluster status green again
