# Direct link to doc & get index pattern ID of \*

Hi everyone,  
I didn't found any solution online yet:

1. Is it possible to get a direct link to elastic doc by the \_id arg?
2. Is it possible to get the index pattern ID of \*?

@amit.haim Welcome to the community!  
I need more information about what you're trying to do so that I can advise you better.  
What are you trying to do with a direct link to an elasticsearch document?  
We use `*` as a wildcard so unless you actually called an index `*` (which is not allowed), I don't know what id you're trying to get here.  
If you can give more info, that would help.

Hi, thank you for responding.  
I want to create a direct link to an elasticsearch document, but I'm not sure  
what is the index pattern ID should be for each document.  
That's why I asked about the index pattern ID of \* (it can work for all documents).
