# Do documents move from one shard to another even when the cluster health is green?

Hello,

I am a new bie to elastic search and had the following doubt:

Do **documents** reallocate from one shard to another when the cluster is stable ?

No, once a document has been indexed into ES, and thus a shard, it does not move to another shard.
